A small round pot with its own lid, finished in the horsehair firing method. Smoky lines drift across the polished clay wherever the hair landed, so the pattern on this pot belongs to it alone. Keep it on a dresser for rings and small treasures, or let it stand on its own on a shelf.

• Horsehair pottery is finished by laying strands of horsehair across the clay while it is still hot from the kiln. Each strand burns away and leaves a fine, smoky line, so no two pieces are ever marked the same.
